Religion is nothing but a crystal clear understanding of the relationship between God and his creation. Only that religion can be made the basis of establishing unity in this world which is totally and unmistakably centred around the display and effective practice of Charity, Compassion, Harmlessness, Brotherhood, Humility, Selflessness and Love in every word and deed.
Thus a religion should be able to firmly establish these divine qualities within us in our every day life, through every though and act of ours. The prime purpose of religion is to purify and uplift man’s nature.
Religion has has come into being to take man back to the eternal source of ‘his being’; Not only to take him back, but to effectively bind him back through powerful acts such as Devotion, Prayer, Rituals, Adoration and Acts of Selfless Service to all living beings.
Religion reminds us of our eternal source and origin thus – “You have your roots in that being and that being is your true abode. You are in that eternal ground in which you are firmly rooted even while you occupy your current shape and form as a passing traveller“.
By thus beginning to follow all the principles of charity, compassion, harmlessness, brotherhood, humility, selflessness and love that unify our world, we will come to love and respect the supreme reality that exists within us; and who exists through his various appearances as humans, animals, plants, trees and insects existing on this earth.
Let us have a definite understanding and realize that:
a. There is only one “Non-Dual Supreme Universal Spirit“.
b. And this is the reality.
c. Therefore, God does not become anyone’s exclusive monopoly.
It is this realisation that will make us very successfully attain the awareness of that great spirit in whom we find ultimate perfection and fulfilment.
THE SPIRITUAL PATH – Taking a spiritual path shows this way. Spirituality shows us the path to go away from just lip service of religion. It amazingly amplifies our strength to move beyond the confinement of the four walls of our place of worship and effectively practice it in our homes, our office, the marketplace, in our neighborhood from the earliest of dawn to daybreak right through nightfall until we sleep.
Thus we are richly empowered with the knowledge and ability to bring the eternal source of our origin and being from our very core; from deep within us into the world outside and allow it to strongly manifest and express itself without doubt, through our words and actions.
Therefore, may we all pray TODAY AND NOW, To the Almighty, to bring real light into our lives, so that WE LIVE TO EXPRESS God’s perfection within us, living to manifest through thought, word and deed, his love, compassion so that every home and family becomes a center of living spirituality.
That would be the fulfillment of true religion which our world badly needs today.
Our ancient rishis also affirmed the same in this small but powerful prayer:
Om, Sarve bhavantu sukhinaḥ, Sarve santu nirāmayāḥ
Sarve bhadrāṇi paśyantu, Mā kashchit duḥkha bhāgbhavet
Oṁ Shāntiḥ, Shāntiḥ, Shāntiḥ
May all be prosperous and happy, May all be free from illness
May all see and experience what is spiritually uplifting,
May no one suffer
Om peace, peace, peace
To conclude in the words of the Sioux, the ancient American Indians, their prayer should resound in our consciousness as proof of having lived a Truly Spiritual Life;
“Make me ever ready to come to you with clean hands and straight eyes so when my life fades as a fading sunset, my spirit may come to you without shame”.
